This course is about making and developing textiles and provides students the opportunity to learn about fibres and woolen textiles and how they can be adapted to a variety of products using the mediums of felting and weaving.
Term 1
This course is compulsory. It involves learning about fibres and how to wet felt to create a textile piece that can be used to make a decorative pillow or wall hanging.
Additionally we examine concepts of design in terms of shape, texture, form and so on.
After felting, we learning different weaving techniques, reinforcing learning around design, functionality and texture.
Year 9 Soft Materials Technology
A compulsory course that examines types of textiles and students learn how to make them.
