Course Description
Year 8 Art
This is a compulsory course for half a year, one period per week. The aim of the course is to build fundamental observational drawing skills and technicals skills with a variety of simple media. Students will be introduced to a variety of artist models and will complete a Maori Art unit.
Course Overview
Term 1
Students will learn basic observational drawing skills and be introduced to basic ink and wash and tonal painting techniques. They will create a composite still life mixed media image.
Students will learn how to make a collagraph and a woodcut print and will combine these.
Term 2
Students will complete a Maori Art task using mixed media.
Students will learn how to make a self-portrait drawing.
